Puppies Crowd Las Cruces Shelter

Another influx of puppies at the Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley is creating space issues at the shelter.

Over the past year, the shelter has been plagued with above-average numbers of puppies that are either dropped off by their owners or animal control officers who pick them up as strays.

Because of space limitations, puppies who don’t find homes very soon will have to be put down by the staff.

The Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley is hosting two off-site pet adoption events Saturday, Nov. 17. Puppy adoptions are available from 8 a.m. to noon at the Farmer’s Market in downtown Las Cruces, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at PetCo, 3050 E. Lohman.

Adoption fees are $75 for dogs and puppies, which includes spaying or neutering and a microchip.

For more information, you can contact the shelter directly at (575) 382-0018 or visit their website at www.ascmv.org.
