Officials say the entrance to a state park in southeastern New Mexico has been closed due to flooding.
State Park Division Director Tommy Mutz said Sunday that the main entry point to Bottomless Lakes State Park on Highway 409 has shut down.
He says the closure is for the foreseeable future.
Officials say the only way to get into the park is through Dexter.
Mutz says he is thankful for the rain which has caused the closure but regrets any inconvenience for visitors.
The state has been battered by drought and persistently high fire danger in recent years.
But severe weather including possible hail and thunderstorms was forecasted around the state this weekend.
