Regional Law Enforcement Battles Sex Trafficking

A group of New Mexico sheriffs and a dozen Texas state troopers are meeting with adult club owners in Albuquerque to discuss ways to battle sex trafficking.

The adult club owners are taking part Thursday in workshops sponsored by U.S. Homeland Security Investigations as part of an effort to get adult industry officials involved with federal investigations.

Kevin Abar, assistant special agent in charge of HSI in New Mexico, says the purpose of the workshops is to help club owners look for signs of sex trafficking and to educate investigators on how club owners operate businesses.

Abar says many crimes discovered in New Mexico sometimes originate in Texas.

He says in recent month more club owners and adult industry officials have helped HSI on pending investigations.
