Registration Open For NMSU Robotics Camp In Las Cruces

The New Mexico Engineering Resource Network, New Mexico State University College of Engineering, will host a beginning robotics camp in Las Cruces from July 10-12 for students ages 10 and older.

This three-day camp is an introduction to robotics using radio-controlled components and other supplies that you might find in your own garage. Campers will utilize the engineering design process as they build a robot with teammates. The robot will be used in a competition at the end of camp. The camp is a great way to prepare for the BEST (Boosting Engineering Science and Technology) robotics competition sponsored by the NMSU College of Engineering. In addition to building a robot for competition, students will work in teams, write an engineering manual, learn basic tool skills and be exposed to a variety of engineering technologies.

Shelly Gruenig, coach of the award-winning Rio Rancho Robo Runners, coordinates the camp.

The camp will be held on the NMSU Las Cruces campus (room will be announced), from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, July 10-12, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, July 19. The cost is $50.
