Remodeled NM Fallen Police Memorial To Be Unveiled
By Vanessa Dabovich
SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — New Mexico officials are set to unveil a remodeled memorial that honors fallen law enforcement officers.
The New Mexico Department of Public Safety recently announced that the memorial will be unveiled May 23 at the Law Enforcement Academy in Santa Fe.
Department of Public Safety Secretary Gorden Eden says the memorial wall will feature digital monitors that display the name, end of watch, agency and image of each fallen officer. Eden says nearly 200 officers in New Mexico have died in the line of duty.
Eden says the remodel includes new paint for the corridors of the law enforcement academy, new signage, and the relocation of some artwork and class plaques on the academy corridors.
