Report: Nearly 200,000 Will Be Eligible For Health Insurance Credits

A new report from a Washington advocacy groups says nearly 192,000 New Mexicans will be eligible for subsidies to help pay for health insurance next year.

The report released today by Families USA says the tax credit subsidies that take effect Jan. 1 will be a game-changer for a huge number of working families that would otherwise be priced out of the health coverage and care they need.

Health Action New Mexico executive director Barbara Webber says New Mexico is one of the states with the most to gain from the new health care laws because of its high numbers of uninsured and underinsured.

The subsidized rates will be available to eligible New Mexicans who purchase health insurance through a new state exchange being implemented as part of the national health care overhaul.
