Residents Of Arizona Town Plan Blocking Immigrants

Residents of a small town near Tucson are planning a protest on Tuesday against the housing of immigrant children at an academy for troubled youth.

Resident Robert Skiba says he was informed last week that immigration authorities planned to house the children, most of them from Central America, at the Sycamore Canyon Academy in Oracle, Arizona.

Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu has been spreading the word via social media and through a news release that the children are set to arrive Tuesday.

Hundreds of immigrant children who have been caught crossing the border illegally into Texas have been sent to a holding facility in Nogales, Arizona. Those children are then released to the federal Department of Health and Human Services, which places them in shelters.

Babeu says the children pose a safety risk.
