Reward Doubles In LCHS Construction Site Burglary

The reward for information that helps identify the men suspected of burglarizing the Las Cruces High School construction site has doubled now that Wooten Construction has contributed $1,000 to the effort.

Las Cruces Crime Stoppers and Wooten Construction are offering a combined $2,000 for information that identifies the men who stole an estimated $35,000 in equipment from the construction site on Sunday.

Las Cruces Police detectives believe that at around 10 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, two men entered the gated area where construction equipment is stored for the remodeling of Las Cruces High School. The men gained access to a Polaris all-terrain vehicle and used it to steal a Bobcat welder that was mounted to a trailer. They also took numerous other construction-related equipment from the site.

One of the suspects is believed to have left the construction site driving the red Polaris ATV pulling the trailer-mounted welder. The suspect is believed to have driven the ATV along the canal on the south side of the school, and is believed to have headed south along Valley Drive at around noon on Sunday.

Anyone with information that can help identify the suspects – or knows the whereabouts of the stolen construction equipment – is asked to call Las Cruces Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Tips can also be sent by text message to CRIMES (274637), keyword LCTIPS.

The Crime Stoppers number and text messaging services are operational 24 hours a day and you do not have to give your name to collect a reward.
