Reward To Find Culprit In Las Cruces Assault And Robbery

Las Cruces – Las Cruces Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of the suspect in Tuesday evening's assault and robbery of a teenage girl.

Shortly after 11 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29, Las Cruces Police were called to the 3000 block of Hillrise Drive where the robbery occurred as the 16-year-old girl was on her way home from work.

Police learned that the girl was sitting on the curb changing shoes when a man approached, grabbed her purse and attempted to run off with it. The girl kept hold of her purse and was dragged onto the street during the struggle. The suspect was able to steal the girl's wallet which contained the girl's ID, a debit card and other personal property.

The suspect was last seen running from the area on Hillrise. The girl received some scrapes and minor cuts during the struggle but was not seriously injured.

The girl described the suspect as being around 5-feet-7-inches tall, skinny and having a light complexion. He was wearing a dark colored long-sleeve shirt, dark jeans and white shoes.
