Reward In Las Cruces Robbery

Las Cruces Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of the suspect in an armed robbery that occurred Monday afternoon near the Henry Benavidez Community Center.

At around 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, a 17-year-old was sitting on a bench near the Benavidez Center, at 1045 McClure Rd., when he was approached by a man armed with black handgun. The suspect pointed the handgun at the teenager and demanded that he hand over his belongings.

After taking several items, including the victim’s cell phone, the suspect struck the teenager over the head and fled the area in a brown Sport Utility Vehicle that was occupied by three other individuals. The teenage victim was not serious injured.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic man, approximately 5-feet-5-inches tall and weighing 150 pounds. He was wearing a blue and white long-sleeve shirt and brown pants. The suspect was driving a 1980’s or 1990’s brown SUV. The SUV was believed to be occupied by another man and two women.
