Reward For Suspect In Las Cruces Armed Robbery

Las Cruces – Las Cruces Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest of the suspect in Wednesday's armed robbery in the parking lot of a local credit union.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of 18-year-old Manuel Luis Castillo who is believed to be the suspect in Wednesday's armed robbery in the parking lot of the First Light Federal Credit Union at 3791 E. Lohman Ave.

At around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, Las Cruces Police were called to a report of an armed robbery in the credit union's parking lot. LCPD detectives learned that the victim was in a vehicle and leaving the bank's parking lot when he got into a minor fender bender with a gold Kia sedan.

The driver of the Kia, believed to be Castillo, exited his vehicle and started an argument with the victim. Castillo then returned to the Kia, retrieved a handgun and pointed it at the victim while demanding money.

Castillo then fled from the area. The Kia was located but Castillo's whereabouts are still unknown.

No injuries were reported.
