Richardson Attends Jobs Summit

By KRWG News

New Mexico – New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson will join seven other governors next week at a summit in Washington, D.C. on creating jobs.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the National Chamber Foundation announced that Richardson will participate next Monday in the meeting organized by the business groups. Richardson's office confirmed Wednesday that he will attend.

The Democratic and Republican governors are to talk about the role of states in fostering job growth through investments in science and technology, workforce training, trade and infrastructure development.

Besides Richardson, governors from Minnesota, Tennessee, Delaware, Mississippi, Rhode Island, Texas and West Virginia are to participate.

In New Mexico, Richardson has advocated tax credits and other incentives for businesses that create jobs.
