New Mexico – The New Mexico Filmmakers Program has been awarded an additional $200,000 in state funds.
Gov. Bill Richardson announced the funding Friday during a stop in Albuquerque.
The money will be used for filmmaker training and outreach programs, including the New Mexico Filmmakers Showcase, the annual New Mexico Filmmakers Conference and the New Mexico Filmmakers Resource Center.
Richardson says the programs New Mexico offers local filmmakers is unparalleled in the rest of the country, and that the accolades local filmmakers are garnering speak to the talent level and the success of the state's programs.
He says the film industry has taken hold in New Mexico and that will mean more jobs and more opportunities for New Mexicans and local businesses.
