New Mexico – New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson says the election of additional Hispanic Republicans to Congress could help the chances of Congress passing comprehensive immigration legislation, something that the lame-duck Democrat supports.
Richardson is currently the nation's only Hispanic governor. The Democrat told a journalism conference in Phoenix on Saturday that immigration legislation could draws bipartisan support that it needs to pass, partly because Republicans don't want to be labeled "the party of no."
Richardson says the election of four additional Hispanic Republicans to Congress improves the chances of enactment but not dramatically.
