Road Work On NM-28 In Mesilla

The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) District One Maintenance with Blue Collar Construction continues work with pavement preservation and rehabilitation on a portion of NM 28 that resides in the Town of Mesilla. The NMDOT has scheduled work that will enhance and extend the longevity of the roadway in order to provide a safe passage for the traveling public.

The NMDOT will be crack sealing the voids within the existing roadway on Saturday, June 28th from 6:00 am until 7:00 pm. There may be a need to complete minor work on Sunday should the contractor run in to delayson Saturday. Traffic will encounter minor interruptions with lane closures and reduction in speed.

The roadway will then be chip sealed on Monday June 30th at 2:00 am and is scheduled to be complete that evening at 6:00 pm. The work zone for these maintenance operations will be stationed between mile marker 27 to 28.8 for both north and southbound. Traffic control will continue to be set up with lane restrictions and reduction in speed. The NMDOT and the contractor will place traffic control devices alerting motorists of the restrictions, along with a pilot car to assist with the movement of traffic within the work zone.
