Ruidoso Gun Ban Has Some Residents Up In Arms

By KRWG News

Ruidoso, New Mexico – RUIDOSO, N.M. (AP) Some Ruidoso residents are up in arms over a mayor's recent executive order banning guns in village property.

KRQE-TV is reporting (http://bit.ly/oRZVbH) that residents plan Tuesday to voice their outrage over an order issued by Mayor Ray Alborn banning firearms from village buildings except for law enforcement is illegal.

Members of the Lincoln County Tea Party, along with members of several other groups, say they will show their outrage at Tuesday's city council meeting.

Village officials said this ordinance was the result of a July case, when a resident at Village Hall had his gun removed by the police chief. Mayor Alborn said he took action as a protective measure.

Alborn said the village attorney assures him he has the right to make the executive order.
