Santa Fe schools are hoping to turn around low graduation rates by getting students who dropped out back in class.
Santa Fe Public Schools is allowing Atlantic Education Partners, a private Florida-based firm, to use state funds for a program aimed at recruiting high school dropouts.
School district officials say the new Engage Santa Fe program will begin next semester.
The program will allow returning students to go to class at a separate place, away from existing high schools, but learn online too.
Company officials say they will hire recruiters to reach out to dropouts with the goal of enrolling at least 75 by fall.
According to the district, each Santa Fe Public Schools student generates $6,700 in funding.
