The Las Cruces Fire Department has learned that someone proclaiming to represent them is contacting residents by telephone and soliciting donations.
The Las Cruces fire and police departments do not make such telephone calls and do not seek donations in this manner. Such telephone calls are likely a scam, and an attempt at gaining personal or financial information.
Anyone who receives such a call should simply hang up and refrain from providing any personal or financial information to the caller.
Anyone who has been victimized by such a telephone call – anyone who has actually lost money – is asked to call police immediately at (575) 526-0795.
