Search For Suspect In Las Cruces Stabbing

By KRWG News

Las Cruces – At about 7:00 am this morning, a stabbing occurred in the parking lot of greenhouses located in the Arrowhead Research Park, near the intersection of Triviz Drive and Cholla Drive.

The victim, an employee at the greenhouses (operated by a company that leases space from NMSU), was stabbed several times. She was transported by helicopter to University Medical Center in El Paso, and is reported to be doing well at this time.

The suspect, a former boyfriend of the victim, is Ismael Zambrano Chavira, age 38. He is about 5'7" tall, 170 lbs., with brown eyes and black hair. He was last seen leaving the area in a white 1997 Dodge 4-door sedan with New Mexico license plate #GTM-352. Area law enforcement agencies have been alerted to look for him, and he was already wanted for an arrest warrant issued a week ago for aggravated domestic battery related to an incident that occurred in Do a Ana County.
