By KRWG News

Las Cruces – The New Mexico Senate confirmed New Mexico State University Board of Regents appointees Mike Cheney and Christopher Dulany today.

Cheney and Dulany were appointed to the board by Gov. Susana Martinez. They will be seated at the Board of Regents meeting Monday, March 14.

"I look forward to working with our new Regents. As Aggies, they each have considerable knowledge of the institution and will bring unique perspectives to our deliberations moving forward," said Regents Chair Isaac Pino.

Cheney is the regional bank president in southern New Mexico for Wells Fargo Bank. He has worked in the banking industry for more than 20 years in various positions including business banker, branch manager and loan officer. He also has served as president of Community Bank. Cheney, who was born and raised in Hobbs, N.M., received a bachelor's degree in finance from NMSU in 1985 and has attended the Western States School of Banking and Northwest College of Credit. Cheney has served on the NMSU College of Business Advisory Council and the Board of Directors of the Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce. His wife, Denni, also an NMSU alum, currently serves as president of the NMSU President's Associates. They have two children, one of whom is a junior attending NMSU.

Dulany, who will serve as the student regent on the board, is a graduate student pursing a master's degree in business with an emphasis in finance. After receiving his bachelor's in finance from NMSU in 2005, he began working as a financial adviser for Edward Jones. He is active in the Las Cruces Rotary Club and is a member of the Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce. As an undergraduate student at NMSU, he served as an Associated Students of NMSU senator for the College of Business. He is a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Dulany grew up in Los Alamos, N.M.

"We are pleased that our new Regents have been confirmed. NMSU is fortunate to have a Board of Regents composed of such highly qualified and dedicated individuals," said NMSU President Barbara Couture.
