Senator Bingaman To Speak In Las Cruces At Green Jobs Event

By KRWG News

Las Cruces – New Mexico State University's Arrowhead Center will host the E3 Green Jobs Forum, designed for employers, educators and employees around New Mexico, from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 22 at the New Mexico Farm and Ranch Museum in Las Cruces. U.S. Sen. Jeff Bingaman will speak at noon. The event is free, but registration is required at http://greenjobsforum-eorg.eventbrite.com.

The forum's goal is to bring employers, educational institutions and the workforce together to network and candidly discuss their needs in employing and educating a green workforce and determining future collaborative opportunities. New Mexico's new Mobile Green Jobs Workforce Center, which travels statewide for onsite job training and information dissemination, will also take part in the forum.

"This event really is for anyone from political leaders to business owners to people already working in green job areas," said Vickie Galindo, an economic development officer for the Arrowhead Center. "We'll review the state of green jobs in New Mexico and host a panel discussion covering the needs and opportunities in this area."

The forum is part of an 18-month project for the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions. Last year, the Arrowhead Center's policy analysis began to study green jobs in New Mexico to better understand the needs of a green-related workforce, and the educational opportunities related to supporting it.

This event is sponsored by the Arrowhead Center and the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions, in collaboration with the New Mexico Green Chamber of Commerce, the New Mexico Higher Education Department and the New Mexico Public Education Department.
