Las Cruces – Las Cruces Police are investigating a Sunday morning shooting that has resulted in the death of a man.
Just before 8 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 27, police were called to the Telshor Manor
Apartments at 1410 Telshor Blvd. Las Cruces Police investigators so far have learned that two suspects attempted to break into an apartment. A resident of the apartment was apparently startled awake, grabbed a handgun, and opened fire at the intruders.
At least one of the gunshots struck one of the intruders as he was located outside, on the west side of the apartment complex. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has yet to be determined.
The second would-be intruder was seen heading north from the apartment complex. He was described as a heavy-set man, possibly Hispanic.
No charges have been filed at this time and detectives are continuing to investigate the incident.
