Silver City Fire Contained; Evacuation Lifted

Authorities say a 13-acre fire that forced the brief evacuation of several homes near Silver City has been contained.

The Grant County Sheriff's Department says the homes were evacuated Sunday as a precaution. Residents were allowed to return by the evening.

State Forestry officials say the fire started about 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

The cause of the fire is still unknown.
