New Mexico – Gambling in New Mexico increased at a slower pace in 2010 than in the previous year.
The Albuquerque Journal reports in a copyright story that racetracks with slot machines showed slightly stronger gains last year than did tribal casinos and nonprofits. That's according to net win figures compiled by state regulators.
Net win is considered a key indicator of overall gambling activity. It's the amount bet on slot machines minus payouts and regulatory fees.
Gambling licensees pay the state of New Mexico a percentage of their net win.
