Glorieta, New Mexico – ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRWG) The Glorieta Conference Center north of Santa Fe is cutting back operations, laying off workers and may be sold.
The arm of the Southern Baptist Convention that owns the scenic 2,100 acre center says it has been losing money for years. In a statement on its web site, Lifeway Christian Resources says trustees voted recently to reduce operations from year-round to summer-only programs for student groups. And as of Nov. 1, staff is being reduced from 23 to seven employees. The statement says the trustees also last month voted to "pursue viable options for the disposition of the center."
