(LAS CRUCES) -- Hundreds of people are expected to fill the las cruces convention center this weekend—all for a good cause.

Daniel Sambrano is working with local business owners and putting the finishing touches on the 5th annual cruising for st. Jude’s car and bike show.

“Mostly, I think we are gonna get a good mix. We do have, aside from Bob getting his buddies involved, there has been multiple car clubs here in the area. So, we’re gonna be seeing mostly muscle cars, classics, low-riders,” he said.

The event will raise money for research, support, care, and awareness for st. Jude’s children’s research hospital. Last year, the group did good on attendance and volunteers hope more people can make it to the benefit.

“Hopefully, you know, make more money than we did last year. Last year I think we raised close to three grand. We are hoping to double that this year. I think it’s very doable. I’ve been getting a lot of positive feedback," he said.

Organizers say the car and bike show will also include live music and plenty of food.

“We wanted to show an example to the kids and to the public you can change your life.  And why not give to the kids who need it?” said co-founder, Jesus Carrasco.

St. Jude’s Children’s research hospital sees more than seven thousand patients each year. Most of whom are treated on an outpatient basis. It has 78 inpatient beds and treats up to 260 patients a day.

“We’ve been blessed of course with our jobs, we’re moving up in the world and if we can change one person to get our of that and join the better side and believe in the Lord then that’s what it’s all about,” he said.

The event will be held at the las cruces convention center this weekend from 11am-11pm. The cost is 10 dollars per person and 12 and under are free. Organizers say all of the proceeds for the event will go directly to St. Jude’s.
