By KRWG News

Las Cruces – The man wanted for a stabbing that occurred Sunday was located Monday evening and arrested.

Jesse Israel Duran, 34, of the 500 block of south Mesquite Street, was found at his home Monday evening. Initially, he refused to comply with officers from the Las Cruces Police Department and U.S. Marshals Service and barricaded himself inside the residence. Duran was eventually called out of the residence and taken into custody.

Duran was arrested on a warrant for the stabbing and is charged with one count of aggravated battery causing great bodily harm.

Shortly before 7:30 p.m. Sunday, April 4, Las Cruces Police were called to the 500 block of south Mesquite Street where officers found the victim on the sidewalk, suffering from a stab wound to his torso. Detectives learned that an on-going disagreement between neighbors led to a physical confrontation and Duran stabbing the victim once in his chest.

Duran fled the area and his whereabouts were unknown until Monday evening.

The 33-year-old victim from Sunday's stabbing remains at University Medical Center of El Paso. His injuries are not life-threatening and his condition is improving.

Duran is being held at the Dona Ana County Detention Center with bond set at $30,000.
