Five special agents from the state Attorney General's Office are among New Mexico law enforcement officers sworn in as special deputy U.S. marshals to work on a multi-agency fugitive task force.

The Marshal's Service says the newly sworn-in special deputy marshals also include an Albuquerque police officer and a Bernalillo County sheriff's deputy.

Attorney General's spokesman James Hallinan says the office has previously worked in conjunction with the task force but that this is the first time that special agents from the office have been sworn in as special deputy marshals with the task force.

U.S. Marshal Conrad Candelaria says the special deputy marshals will be assigned to Marshals Service offices in Albuquerque and Santa Fe.
