State Park Near Las Cruces Closing For Levee Work

KRWG News – MESILLA, N.M. (KRWG) State officials say the Mesilla Valley Bosque State Park in southern New Mexico will be closed for several days in early May because of planned levee improvements.

The park near Las Cruces will be closed from May 9 through May 11.

A flood control levee along the Rio Grande is being raised in the vicinity of the park, and a road serving as the park's entrance and exit is atop a portion of the levee. Park officials said there's no way to detour park traffic during the work.

The park opened in 2008, and includes about 900 acres of wetlands, riverside woodlands and Chihuahuan Desert.
