State Representative Asks Attorney General to Clarify Spaceport Tax

Las Cruces, NM – Earlier this month State Representative Joni Gutierrez sent a letter to New Mexico Attorney General Gary King requesting an opinion about the implementation of the Spaceport Gross Receipts Tax. The quarter percent tax is set to go into place in Dona Ana County on January 1st with 75 percent of its revenue earmarked for the design and construction of Spaceport America. As KRWG's Evan Woodward reports, Gutierrez wants the state to allow a delay in the implementation of the tax, in order to ensure that it is properly spent.
