Supreme Court Will Hold Hearing On Lawsuit Against Martinez

By KRWG News

New Mexico – Environmental groups have another lawsuit against Gov. Susana Martinez challenging her handling of pending and proposed rules.

The lawsuit on Thursday asks the state Supreme Court to force the Martinez administration to move ahead with publishing new regulations on groundwater discharges by dairies.

The rules were approved last month and were to be published on Friday, taking effect at the end of the month.

However, the administration halted the publication after it took office.

The court has scheduled a hearing on Jan. 26 on a similar lawsuit over the administration's halt on publishing rules to curb greenhouse gas emissions.

A spokesman for the governor says the publication of rules has been postponed only temporarily while the administration reviews the pending regulations.
