A suspect who stole a Valencia County Sheriff's vehicle has been found in Albuquerque.
Authorities say a man was taken into custody Wednesday morning, not long after he allegedly commandeered a deputy's cruiser.
Valencia County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Gary Hall says the incident began around 10 a.m. when the suspect bashed the driver's side window with a metal rod as the deputy was sitting in it.
The deputy exited the vehicle and the suspect got in and fled.
Hall says the suspect led deputies on a chase of speeds above 100 mph.
The vehicle ended up in Bernalillo County where a spike belt stopped it.
Hall says the incident is not related to an inmate's escape Wednesday from a prison transport van in downtown Albuquerque.
