Las Cruces, NM - On this edition of PUENTES, bridges to the community, host Emily Guerra meets with New Mexico State University Manager of Environmental Policy and Sustainability, Joni Newcomer.

In 2010 the Office of Sustainability at New Mexico State University was created to empower the student community to care about the environment in which they live and work, and to carry it into their personal lives and future generations. Newcomer helped develop ten sustainability initiatives: relationships, energy reduction; waste reduction; water conservation; climate change resilience; food and health; green buildings; transportation; materials and social justice. She says we already do them in our homes when we turn off our lights before go to work.
