Tax Deadline Approaches

By KRWG News

Las Cruces – Despite a weekend deadline and inclement weather, the last day to pay your property taxes in Do a Ana County is Dec. 10.

The treasurer's office has made convenience a priority for taxpayers, and urges all property owners to get their payments in by Friday, Dec. 9. Tax payments can be made four different ways: via U.S. mail (postmarked by Dec. 10), in person at the Government Center on or before Dec. 9, at any Wells Fargo bank branch in Do a Ana County, or online at www.donaanacounty.org. Any online payment will be assessed a 2.49% service fee.

According to Chief Deputy Treasurer Ren Barba, late fees will be assessed after the deadline per New Mexico Property Tax Code. The code does not allow the county to forgive penalties and interest once it is incurred.

"There are no special circumstances to postpone or not pay your taxes," said Barba. "We have taken every measure allowable by law to notify the public, so if you have not received your tax bill, we ask that you call or come by our office as soon as possible."

The Dona Ana County Treasurer's office is located inside the Government Center, 845 N. Motel Blvd. You may also reach the office by phone, (575) 647-7433.
