Las Cruces – Former Rep. Harry Teague says he has enjoyed his time in public service but has no plans to seek another office.
Teague told the Hobbs News-Sun: "I am not going to run again."
The one-term Democratic congressman from southern New Mexico and former Lea County commissioner says he will spend time with relatives and help with the family's oilfield services businesses. He says he has done enough in public life.
Teague lost in November's general election to Rep. Steve Pearce, R-N.M.
Teague says he has made peace with his defeat, and that the mood of the country favored challengers. He says Pearce ran a strong campaign, and he's not upset about losing.
