Teen Boys Charged in Las Cruces Auto Burglary Spree

Las Cruces Police have charged three teenagers for entering unlocked vehicles and burglarizing them in the Hillrise neighborhood.

Angelo Espinosa, 17, and 16-year-olds Albert Sandoval and Jesse Morse were each charged with three counts of auto burglary, three counts of larceny, and one count each of tampering with evidence and conspiracy.

During the early-morning hours of Wednesday, Nov. 2, Las Cruces Police were dispatched to the 3000 block of Majestic Ridge where a witness reported seeing three boys carrying backpacks and acting suspiciously. A second witness reported seeing the boys attempting to open doors to unlocked vehicles.

Officers located the three juveniles on the campus of Hillrise Elementary School. Nearby, officers found three backpacks the boys were believed to be using to carry stolen property.

Detectives learned that the boys stole a wallet and cell phone from one vehicle, a purse from another and a sports bag from another car.

The three boys were incarcerated in the juvenile section of the Dona Ana County Detention Center where they were initially held without bond.
