Teen Jailed After Thtreatening Family With A Gun

A 17-year-old Las Cruces teen was arrested Wednesday after Doña Ana County Sheriff’s investigators said he allegedly came home from school drunk and threatened his mother and brother with a stolen handgun.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 9500 block of Arrowhead road at 4 p.m. after Adam Terrazas reportedly hit his mother and threatened his 15-year-old brother with a handgun.
The 15-year-old told investigators Terrazas started drinking after school. When the two did not come home after school, the boys’ mother called to tell them to come home. This reportedly angered Terrazas.
Terrazas was gone when deputies arrived, but was located shortly afterwards by Las Cruces Police, who found Terrazas hiding in a closet inside a home in the 1300 block of Triviz.
The home where Terrazas was located reportedly belonged to Terrazas’s cousin, who was not home at the time.
Further investigation revealed the gun that was in Terrazas’s possession was stolen, and is part of a residential burglary investigation being handled by the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office.
Terrazas was arrested and booked at the Doña Ana County Juvenile Detention Center, charged with larceny of a firearm, aggravated burglary, assault with a deadly weapon and battery against a household member.
Because Terrazas was on probation at the time of his arrest, he was also charged with unlawful possession of a firearm.
He is being held without bond.
