LCPD

Las Cruces Police have charged a 13-year-old boy suspected in a weekend vandalism spree at the middle school he attends.

The teenage boy was charged with one count of criminal damage to property. Police believe several other young individuals participated in the vandalism but they have yet to be identified.

A Las Cruces Police Department school resource officer learned that several teenagers vandalized Lynn Middle School, at 950 S. Walnut St., at around 1 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 14. The suspects are believed to have climbed to the roof where they broke several windows to a skylight above the school’s south hallway. The young boys also damaged a surveillance camera and stucco wall.

Damage to the building was estimated at more than $1,000.

The school resource officer identified the 13-year-old boy after reviewing surveillance video from the school. Anyone with information that can help identify the other suspects is asked to call Las Cruces Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or email the Las Cruces Police Department at lcpdtips@las-cruces.org.
