In the United States, our system of public media depends on three critical sources of revenue:
1. Community donations and underwriting from local companies.
2. State funding, often through universities who have a mission to serve the community.
3. Federal funding, which is provided by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Federal funding has already been cut, putting stress on a system already underfunded compared to other developed nations.
