By KRWG News

Albuquerque, New Mexico – ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRWG) A Texas museum official has been named executive director of the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science.

Cultural Affairs Secretary Veronica Gonzales announced on Wednesday the appointment of Charles Walter to the museum post, which he assumes on Oct. 24.

The museum in Albuquerque has more visitors annually than any other in New Mexico's network of state-owned museums.

Walter has worked at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History since 1986, and most recently has served as its executive vice president of programs. He was chief operating officer from 2004 to 2009.

Walter has a master's of business administration from the University of North Texas and a bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University.
