Texas Governor Meets With Homeland Security Chief

By KRWG News

Texas – Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano says she was being firm and not testy with Gov. Rick Perry during a recent conversation about National Guard troops on the Texas border.

Napolitano said Thursday during a Laredo visit that she perhaps needed to get Perry "more information" on what she called a record amount of security resources given to the southwest border under President Barack Obama's administration.

Perry, who is running for an unprecedented third term as governor, said earlier this month that Napolitano became "a little testy" when he steered a conversation about Hurricane Alex readiness toward border security.

Napolitano was in Texas to announce $60 million in grant money for law enforcement along the border. Texas gets $17 million, more than any other state.
