Texas Legislation Focuses On Illegal Immigration

By KRWG News

Texas – Cracking down on illegal immigrants will be a top priority for many Texas lawmakers.

That's judging from the slew of bills that were filed Monday, the first day for lawmakers to file proposed legislation to be considered during the upcoming legislative session.

One House Republican says she spent two nights camping out on the House floor so she could be the first to file her bills when the office opened.

Rep. Debbie Riddle successfully filed the first House bill, a proposal that would require voters to provide proof of eligibility with either one form of photo identification or two other forms of non-photo ID.

More than 300 bills had been filed by midday.
