Texas-Oklahoma Rail Study

Transportation officials are studying the feasibility of adding high-speed passenger trains and other rail upgrades to a corridor extending from Oklahoma City to South Texas.

The Texas-Oklahoma Passenger Rail Study is looking at how changes to passenger rail service would help reduce traffic congestion along the Interstate 35 corridor. This includes the cities of Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin and San Antonio.

Transportation officials are holding meetings along the corridor and will accept comments through April 26.

The $11 million study will also look at funding options for any plan. In California this summer, officials will start work on the first stretch of track for a $68 billion bullet train that will link Northern and Southern California with trains traveling up to 220 mph.
