Three Teens Charged In Las Cruces Murder Plead Not Guilty

  Las Cruces---Three of the four suspects involved in a Las Cruces area shooting on July 31, 2015 which resulted in the death of Jaycob Alba, 17, were arraigned before Magistrate Court Judge Beverly Singleman.

All the suspects have been charged with one count each of the following: first-degree murder, aggravated burglary with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, shooting at an inhabited dwelling causing personal injury and tampering with evidence.

All three suspects entered a plea of not guilty to all counts.  The state requested that no bail be set pursuant to Article II section 13 of the New Mexico Constitution. Judge Beverly Singleman granted Jordan Gift a $50,000 secured bond, D’Shaun Hermans a $75,000 secured bond and set no bond for Adrian Hortelano.

Thereafter, Judge Beverly Singleman imposed the Standard Conditions of release for Gift and Hermans which state they are not to possess a firearm, cannot leave Dona Ana County or the State of New Mexico and may not have contact with anyone who may testify in their pending cases.

Charges against the fourth suspect, Daniel Munoz, 17, are also pending.
