New Mexico State University's Model United Nations organization will continue its tradition of gala fundraising events this year with the fifth annual Night at the U.N. banquet. The event begins at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, at the NMSU Golf Course banquet facility, 3000 Herb Wimberly Dr. in Las Cruces. Tickets are available at https://shopcart.nmsu.edu/shop/govt, where a choice of meal options is offered.

The model United Nations team at New Mexico State University is getting ready to travel to New York City later this month.

One way the Model UN team raises funds for its annual conference in the Big Apple is its annual dinner…which is being held next Tuesday night at 6….at the NMSU golf course.  And several students from Japan will be at the dinner….That’s because for the first time…the NMSU team is partnering with students from another country.  Model UN President Lydia Hammond says the caliber of the Model UN experience was key in her decision to attend NMSU.

Hammond and Model UN Vice President Collin King participated in a public dialogue in another way this past fall.  A group of students formulated and presented questions in the second Congressional debate produced at KRWG-TV…a program that aired statewide and served as the only debate in that race.  King says…that public media experience and the Model UN work are critical learning opportunities.
