Cannon Air Force Base, New Mexico – CLOVIS, N.M. (KRWG) A piece of steel salvaged from the World Trade Center has arrived at Cannon Air Force Base.
The steel was granted to Cannon by the New York and New Jersey Port Authority.
The Clovis News Journal (http://bit.ly/r0FrL1 ) reports that during a Sept. 11 ceremony to commemorate the 10th anniversary of 9/11, the Cannon fire department will unveil a memorial containing the steel.
The ceremony is in honor of the nearly 3,000 people killed Sept. 11, 2001, when terrorists hijacked three U.S. passenger planes and flew them into the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon.
