Transportation Plans for Las Cruces, Mesilla and Doña Ana County

April 25, 2015 – Las Cruces, NM - On this edition of PUENTES, Emily Guerra bridges the community with (MPO) Mesilla Valley Planning Organization Officer, Tom Murphy; and MPO Board Chair and Mesilla Trustee, Linda Flores, to talk about regional transportation planning. The MPO is responsible for planning all aspects of the transportation system in Las Cruces, Mesilla and Doña Ana County. Every five years residents from these communities are called upon to provide public input into transportation plans. In the past, MPO has provided more transportation options such as: auto, aviation, bicycle, pedestrian and public transit improvements. Also, safer transportation systems have been implemented like: Safe Routes to School programs; a multi-use channel trail on Triviz; and an intermodal transit terminal.

If you have opinions about public transportation, now is the time to let your voice be heard before the Plan is finalized for the next five years. Murphy says he is already receiving input from residents. Concerned residents are invited to attend the next meeting on Saturday, May 2nd from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Del Cerro Community Center, 180 La Fe Avenue in Vado, NM.
