Two Arrested For Arson Of Chaparral Home

Doña Ana County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two Chaparral residents on multiple charges – including arson – early Wednesday morning following the investigation of a house fire last week in the 700 block of Tumbleweed Trail.

Sergio Seanez, 18, is charged with one count each of arson, residential burglary and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Daniel E. Rios, 17, is charged with one count each of arson and residential burglary.

Seanez and Rios allegedly broke into a house in the 700 block of Tumbleweed on Aug. 22 and set it on fire. Fire investigators said the fire started in the kitchen and quickly spread to the rest of the house.

Doña Ana County firefighters from Chaparral, La Mesa, South Valley and Santa Teresa responded to the call, with assistance from Otero County and El Paso County fire crews. When they arrived, flames could be seen shooting through the roof, which later collapsed.

Investigators with the Doña Ana County Fire Marshal’s Office say the house and a recreational vehicle next to it were each a total loss.

No injuries were reported, and according to investigators, the man who owned and lived at the house was not home at the time of the fire.

Seanez was transported to the Doña Ana County Detention CenterWednesday morning, where he is being held on a $10,000 surety bond.

Rios is being detained without bond in the juvenile section of the Doña Ana County Detention Center.
