Two Arrested In Pre-Dawn Burglary

Doña Ana County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two Las Cruces men after they were seen climbing through the window of a mobile home in the 5800 block of Stern Drive early Wednesday morning.

Investigators say Alan Rodriguez, 19, and Guillermo Velasquez, 18, were reportedly sleeping in a park in the Vista del Sol mobile home community when they woke up around 4:00 a.m.

As they walked through the park, they noticed a home without any lights on and reportedly decided to try and gain entry through a window.

When deputies arrived, Rodriguez was reportedly still in the home. Velasquez was located walking down the street from the house and was identified by Rodriguez.

Shoe impressions found beneath the window matched the shoes the two men were wearing.

Rodriguez and Velasquez were booked into the Doña Ana County Detention Center. Each was charged with burglary of a dwelling and conspiracy to commit a third-degree felony.  Both Rodriguez and Velasquez are being held on a $10,000 surety bond.

Investigators say the two men are suspected of being involved in two other burglaries that occurred in the same mobile home park in the last two weeks.
