Federal authorities say two people have been arrested at the border after trying to smuggle methamphetamine into Arizona.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers say they arrested a 25-year-old Sahuarita, Arizona woman and a 17-year-old Mexican boy.
The two were involved in separate attempts to smuggle about $104,000 worth of methamphetamine through the Port of Nogales.
Officers working at the Mariposa crossing with a CBP narcotics-detection dog apprehended the woman on Wednesday after finding more than 33 pounds of meth in the floor of her vehicle.
On Tuesday, officers working at the Dennis DeConcini pedestrian crossing found almost 1 ½ pounds of methamphetamine hidden in the clothing of a Mexican teen.
The drugs were seized and both suspects turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
